Electronic Control Module (ECM)The Transmission/Chassis ECM makes decisions based on the information from ECM inputs and information from memory. After the Transmission/Chassis ECM receives the information from inputs and information from memory, the Transmission/Chassis ECM will send a corresponding response through the outputs. Each ECM uses the CAT and CAN Data Links to communicate with the other ECMs on the machine. The data links are bidirectional. The data links allow the ECMs to receive information. The data links allow the ECMs to send information. The data links allow the sharing of information with other electronic control modules. The Transmission/Chassis ECM communicates with the Engine ECM via the CAT and CAN Data Link.
