Personal injury or death can result from a brake malfunction. Do not operate the machine if the brake was applied due to a malfunction of the brake system.Correct any problem before attempting to operate the machine.
Note: The parking brake is located on the final drive planetary (drum).
In order to prevent the machine from moving, block the drum and block the tires securely.

In order to hold the front frame and the rear frame rigid, install the steering frame lock pin.
The brakes can be released when you use the following procedure.

In order to release the brakes, use the FT-1973 Adapter Group and the FT-1845 Pump Group.
Plug the main pressure hose at the connection of the main pressure hose to the FT-1973 Adapter Group (5).
Turn handle (4) of the bypass to the CLOSED position.
Observe the opening pressure of relief valve (2) while you operate pump handle (3).
Possible brake piston seal damage could result without checking the relief valve. The opening pressure must be checked and adjusted before making a connection.
Adjust the opening pressure to 2413 69 kPa (350 10 psi). Turn handle (4) of the bypass to the OPEN position.

Disconnect the brake line. In order to prevent the loss of fluid, plug the brake line.
Install the 8T-2857 Brake Release Adapter. Install the remainder of the FT-1973 Adapter Group (5) to the pump pressure hose.
Place the pump near the operator.
Remove the steering frame lock pin.
Turn handle (4) for the bypass to the CLOSED position.
Operate the pump handle in order to produce a pressure rise. The seal is seated when the pressure rises to the maximum value.
When the engine is stopped, additional steps are required before the machine is towed. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Towing the Machine" for more information.
The machine can be towed. Tow the machine for short distances only. Tow the machine at a slow speed of less than 2 km/h (1.2 mph).
Once the machine has been towed to the desired location, turn handle (4) to the OPEN position. Parking Brake Release Pump (If Equipped)

The parking brake can be released with the manual parking brake pump. Use the following procedure to release the parking brake.
In order to prevent the machine from moving, block the drum and the wheels.
The needle valve for the manual release of the parking brake is located behind the panel on the right side of the machine. Remove the right side access panel, if equipped.

Needle valve (1) is locked in position by setscrew (2). The setscrew is located near the base of the needle valve. Loosen set screw (2) by one turn.
Turn needle valve (1) in a clockwise direction until the needle valve stops.
The pump for the manual brake release is located on the left side of the machine
