The solenoid valves for prelube pumps and starting motors leak from the exhaust ports at various installations that use natural gas to activate the valves.Problem
The solution to the leaking was published in Engine News, SEBD9823, "New Ventilation Procedure for the Pre-lube Pump Solenoid Valve and Starting Motor Solenoid Valve for Certain G3500B Engines",At some installations, the valve continue to leak because the instructions in the Engine News article were not implemented.Solution
Perform one of the following procedures in order to prevent the leaks:
Follow the instructions in Engine News, SEBD9823, "New Ventilation Procedure for the Pre-lube Pump Solenoid Valve and Starting Motor Solenoid Valve for Certain G3500B Engines".
Shut off the gas supply to the prelube pump and starting motor. Cap the gas supply lines. Use Caterpillar® Electronic Technician (ET) to disable the prelube pump configuration parameter.
