Location of the parking brake control knob
The parking brake interlock helps prevent accidental movement of the machine. The parking brake interlock also prevents the operator from inadvertently driving through the parking brake.When the parking brake control knob is pushed in, the parking brake is disengaged. The transmission speed selection is not affected when the parking brake control knob is in the DISENGAGED position.When the parking brake control knob is pulled out, the parking brake is engaged. The transmission will not shift out of neutral into first speed forward, first speed reverse, second speed forward or second speed reverse when the parking brake control knob is in the ENGAGED position.If the parking brake engages and the transmission is in first speed forward, first speed reverse, second speed forward or second speed reverse, the power train ECM shifts the transmission into neutral. A Warning Category 1 will also occur. The parking brake must be disengaged before the power train ECM will allow the transmission to shift into a forward speed or into a reverse speed. When the transmission is in third speed forward, third speed reverse, fourth speed forward or fourth speed reverse and the parking brake is engaged, the transmission will remain in gear. A Warning Category 3 will occur. Note: Use of the drive-through mode will allow the machine to shift into first speed forward, first speed reverse, second speed forward or second speed reverse while the parking brake is engaged.Reference: For additional information on the drive-through mode, refer to the Service Manual module System Operation, "Parking Brake" for the machine that is being serviced.
