The ERt application can be found via the Product Support web portal ("dealer.cat.com"). Select the "Service Operations" on the lower left -hand side of the web page, then select "Additional Downloads" line item listed within the "Service Software (Cat ET, SIS, STW)" menu.The following web link provides the direct web location to download the Engine Reprogramming Tool application.https://dealer.cat.com/en/ps/service/software/downloads.html

Go to the Service Information System website (SIS web) Main Menu. Under "Additional Service Information", select "View More".

Click "C3.3B and C3.8 Downloads", which will bring up "ECU and ACU Service and Diagnosis" website.

Select "ECU and ACU Data Pack (DPK) Downloads".

Select "Type2 DPK for ERT (PGM+Trim)".

Enter the Engine Serial Number and select "Search".The engine serial number can be found by looking for the decal on the valve cover that has the engine serial number, using Cat ET to look at the Engine ECM, a previous Product Status Report (PSR), or by looking for the engine serial number on the block.For the engine serial number on the block refer to Troubleshooting, UENR3423, "C3.3B and C3.8 Engines for Caterpillar Built Machines" - , General Information (Engine Serial Number Location).
Select the button for the engine. If there is more than one engine, select based on the model name. The C2.4 will have a model name of V2403, C3.3B will have a model name of V3307, and the C3.8 will have a model name that starts with V3800.
Enter the ECM or DCU Serial Number and select "Download".The Engine ECM serial number can be found by looking on the backside of the Engine ECM that is being flashed. If this is the original Engine ECM, then a previous PSR or TMI will have this data.The DCU serial number can be found on the DCU similar to an Engine ECM.Note: The DCU serial number will be displayed as "ACU S/N:"Note: This DPK flash file will only flash onto the Engine ECM or DCU with that serial number. If the ECM/DCU serial number is mistyped, flashing will not complete. Be sure to enter the ECM serial number exactly and use capital letters.Flashing Procedure with the Engine Reprogramming Tool
Connect the Caterpillar Communication Adapter 3Note: The Caterpillar Communication Adapter 3 is required.
Turn the key switch in the "ON" position with the engine NOT running.Note: For the 308E2 models, the machine speed setting must be set at "1". If the setting is not set at "1", flashing will not occur.

Open the ERt.

Select the Correct ECM Type depending on flashing needs.Note: Aftertreatment ECU must be selected when flashing a DCU.

Select "Browse" and then select the DPK file that was downloaded for the engine and ECM being flashed.

Select "Validate". This selection will change two of the four fields above to "Green".If the ECM/DCU Serial Number or Engine Serial Number are "Red", then the incorrect Engine Serial Number or ECM/DCU
