Note: This rework procedure is divided into two parts. The first part involves the removal and disassembly of the final drive in order to replace the old hub with the new hub. The final drive is then reassembled and the final drive is then installed onto the machine. The second part of the rework involves the installation of the new segments onto the final drive hub.Rework, Part 1
Remove the old hub and segments. Discard all parts.ReferenceRefer to the Disassembly and Assembly, RENR5232 for the removal and disassembly of the hub and segments.
Use a wire wheel in order to remove any dirt, rust, or paint from the mounting surfaces for the new hub.
Illustration 1 g01439391
Attach hub (2) with 18 bolts (5) and 18 washers (6), as shown in Illustration 1. Make sure that new bolts and washers are used. Torque the bolts to 300 40 N m (220 30 lb ft).
Complete the reassembly of the final drive.
Reinstall the final drive onto the machine.ReferenceRefer to the Disassembly and Assembly, RENR5232 for the assembly and installation of the final drive.
Repeat Step 1 through Step 5 for the other side of the machine.Rework, Part 2
Use a wire wheel in order to remove any dirt, rust, or paint from the mounting surfaces for the segments and the hub.
Illustration 2 g01442858
Each segment has two small locator pads (7) on the underside of the segment, as shown in Illustration 2.
Place segment (1) with the flange against the outside of the mounting flange for hub (2) .
Illustration 3 g01442861
Make sure that the two locator pads (7) on each sprocket segment are on top of hub (2) .
Coat the threads of all bolts (3) and nuts (4) with 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound or the equivalent lubricant. Make sure that new bolts and new nuts are used.
Insert bolts (3) from the back of the hub with the head of bolts (3) against the flange of hub (2), as shown in Illustration 4.
Thread nuts (4) onto bolts (3) until nuts (4) are seated against the mounting flange of segment (1) .
Hand tighten nuts (4) .
Repeat Steps 3 through 8 until all five segments (1) are located on the final drive.
