Information:
Illustration 8 g01753414Power train oil filter (8) is mounted behind the access door on the rear of the machine. The power train oil filter is designed to trap debris in the oil in order to prevent damage to the power train components.Brake Control Valve
Illustration 9 g01753473Brake control valve (9) is located beneath the plate that is under the operator seat. The brake control valve is mounted on the top of the bevel gear case. Oil that is metered by the brake control valve is used to control the function of the brakes during machine operation. The brake control valve is operated electrically by the ECM, which responds to the operator's movement of the brake pedal or the parking brake switch.Final Drive
Illustration 10 g01753574Final drives (11) cause the last speed reduction and the last torque increase in the power train. The final drives transfer power from the planetary and the steering differential to the tracks by way of sprockets.Power Train Oil Fill Tube and Oil Dipstick
Illustration 11 g01925118The power train oil fill tube and the power train oil dipstick (12) are located behind the access door on the left side of the machine.Torque Converter And Brake Remote Taps
Illustration 12 g01925123Torque converter and brake remote taps (13) for the power train system that are located behind the access door on the left side of the machine provide a convenient location for testing.Reference: Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Taps" in this manual for more information on the pressure taps.Steering and Transmission Control Lever
Illustration 13 g01894986vOThe operator uses steering control lever (14) to steer the machine. The initial movement of the steering control lever results in a gradual rotation of the steering pinion, which turns the bevel gear in the steering differential. This produces a gradual turn. Further movement of the steering control lever results in full rotation of the steering pinion, which produces a sharper turn.Note: The machine is capable of a turn in neutral if the parking brake is disengaged. The steering control lever also acts as a direction selector lever (23). The operator rotates the steering control lever in order to select the condition of the transmission, including FORWARD, REVERSE, or NEUTRAL.The switch for the upper gear selector (21) is used to upshift the transmission. The switch for the lower gear selector (22) is used to downshift the transmission. The machine is equipped with three speed ranges in the forward direction and three speed ranges in the reverse direction. If the machine is equipped with Multi Velocity Program (MVP), the machine has five speed ranges in the forward direction and five speed ranges in the reverse direction.Torque Converter
Illustration 14 g01753674The housing for torque converter (15) is located behind the engine between the flywheel housing and the main drive shaft. The torque converter is a hydraulic connection that transfers engine power through the main drive shaft to the transmission. There is no direct mechanical connection between the engine and the main drive shaft. During operation, the torque converter multiplies torque as the load on the machine increases.Temperature Control
