Weld cracks can occur on the right-hand and left-hand side blade brackets that are designed to receive Accugrade masts on certain D6K Track-Type Tractors.Solution
ReferenceSpecial Instruction, REHS1841, "General Welding Procedures" for additional information on welding procedures.
Remove the cracked welds by air-arc gouging the root of the welds.
Grind the area of the welds up to the base metal in order to remove all of the carbon deposits and make the surface smooth.

(A) 10 mm (0.394 inch) Minimum weld (N1) No weld stop at the corners. Weld as long as possible underneath the bracket assembly. (W1) 6 mm (0.236 inch) Fillet weld
Reweld the bracket with a 6 mm (0.236 inch) fillet weld to obtain 1.5 mm (0.059 inch) penetration. The fillet should be as long as possible underneath the bracket and there should be no stops at the corners.

Install fabricated brackets to the outside of the supports. Weld brackets into place with a 6 mm (0.236 inch) fillet weld to obtain 1.5 mm (0.059 inch) penetration.Fabrication of Brackets
