(18) Brake Oil filterThe brake system for the 785G Off-Highway Truck has changed from the previous 785D machine. The air system on the previous model trucks has been removed completely. Brakes are now controlled exclusively by hydraulic oil. The service brakes and Automatic Retarder Control (ARC) for each wheel are controlled individually. Each wheel utilizes a separate slack adjuster.The parking/secondary brakes are spring engaged and hydraulically released. The service/retarder brakes are hydraulically engaged and spring released. The brake actuation system is equipped with a park brake control valve that controls the park brake function and part of the service brakes system. The Brake ECM controls the park brake solenoid valve. Four slack adjusters help control braking for each wheel individually.A front service brake valve and rear service brake valve replace the single service brake valve on the previous machine. Both the front and rear service brake valves contain two pilot operated brake actuation valves (pressure reducing valves) and two solenoid controlled ARC valves, for left right brake control. The Brake ECM controls the park brake solenoid valve and the operation of the Automatic Retarder Control (ARC) system.
