Failure to install a keeper pin correctly will mean that the mounting pin will not be secured in the mounting pin's location.Problem
There is some confusion in the field about the correct way of installing the 103-5796 Keeper Pins that secure the mounting pins for the cab in place on the listed machines. The mounting pins are used to secure the cab to the front frame. Whenever the cab is installed or the cab lowered as part of Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cab - Tilt", the keeper pins must be correctly installed after the mounting pins for the cab are installed. If a 103-5796 Keeper Pin is not installed in the correct way, the keeper pin could fall out of the mounting pin for the cab. Subsequently, the mounting pin can potentially become disengaged and the pin would no longer secure the cab to the front frame. If this occurs, heavy vibrations will be felt by the operator because the cab will be resting directly at one point on the front frame.Solution
Refer to the following information in order to ensure that you understand the correct operation of the 103-5796 Keeper Pin and that you understand the correct way to install a keeper pin.

The ring on the 103-5796 Keeper Pin is in the CORRECT position. Note the orientation of the nose on the keeper pin. Refer to the white arrow. There is only one way for the ring on 103-5796 Keeper Pin (1) to be correctly folded. When the ring is correctly folded in the ring's place, the spring tension in the ring will keep the ring against the shaft of the keeper pin. Refer to Illustration 1, for an example of the ring on the keeper pin that is correctly folded in place. Also, the Illustration shows that the nose on the keeper pin is pointing toward the end of mounting pin (2) for the cab.
