Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

(1) Propel lever (2) Parking brake switch (3) Throttle control switch (4) Engine start switch
Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Move throttle control switch (3) to the LOW IDLE position.
Move engine start switch (4) to the OFF position.

Press release button (5) and fully raise engine compartment cover (6) .

(7) Cover latch
Engage engine compartment cover latch (7) .

(8) Brake supply line
Disconnect brake supply line (8) from the front brake. Use Tool (C) to cap the port. Use Tool (D) to plug the hose.

(9) Brake supply line
Disconnect brake supply line (9) from the rear brake. Use Tool (C) to cap the port. Use Tool (D) to plug the hose.

(10) Pin (11) Steering frame lock
Remove pin (10) and engage steering frame lock (11) .

(12) Offset cylinder
Disconnect the hose from the head end of offset cylinder (12). Disconnect the hose from the rod end of the offset cylinder. Use Tool (A) to cap the ports. Use Tool (B) to plug the hoses.
Use a suitable lifting device in order to lift the drums off the ground. The maximum weight of the machine is approximately 10700 kg (22,500 lb).
Move engine start switch (4) to the START position. Release the switch when the engine starts.
Operate the engine at low idle for a few minutes. Move throttle control switch (3) to the HIGH IDLE position.
Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature with Tool (E). Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 43 6 °C (110 10 °F).

(13) Automatic speed control dial (14) Travel mode switch
Rotate automatic speed control dial (13) to the middle of the range of the dial.
Move travel mode switch (14) to the HIGH SPEED position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the OFF position.
Move propel lever (1) to the FULL FORWARD position. Observe each drum for movement.
Move propel lever (1) to the FULL REVERSE position. Observe each drum for movement.
Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Move throttle control switch (3) to the LOW IDLE position.
Move engine start switch (4) to the OFF position.
Lower the machine to the ground.
Remove the tooling.
Reconnect the hoses to offset cylinder (12) .
Disengage steering frame lock (11) and reinstall pin (10) .
Reconnect brake supply line (8) and brake supply line (9) .
Release latch (7) and close engine compartment cover (6) .
If either drum moved during the brake test, check the main relief pressure and the POR relief pressure. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Main) - Test and Adjust" and Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Pressure Override) - Test and Adjust" in this publication. If the main relief pressure and the POR relief pressure are within specifications, the brake for the drum that moved must be repaired or replaced.
