Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the information that is necessary to install the 421-0355 Counterweight Kit on the listed machines. The 421-0355 Counterweight Kit increases the machines ROC by approximately 45 kg (100 lb) depending on the model and may be required for machines that use heavy work tools or handle dense loads. Internal front Counterweights specifically added for this model to ensure Machine balance.Safety

Install the top bolt and washer combination into the machine. Screw the bolt and washer combination into the machine far enough to allow for adequate clearance to slide the counterweights onto the bolts. Install the bolts into the machine at least five turns to ensure that the bolts will hold the weights until fully torqued. For top two holes combine hard washers (2) with bolts (4) for use with one counterweight (1) .For bottom hole combine hard washers (2) with bolts (4) and secure with nut (5) on for use with one counterweight kit (1) .Lift one of counterweight (1) and slide the Counterweight in to position from the rear of the machine.Note: Dual counterweights (two per side) should not be added to a 232D machine due to negative effects to machine balance.Note: Plates weigh 34 kg (75 lb) each. Use a suitable lifting device or seek assistance to ensure safe installation of the plates.
Torque the three bolts to 100 20 N m (74 15 lb ft).
Repeat this process for the other side of the machine.
Tilt the cab upward. Ensure that the cab support lever is ENGAGED. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU9084, "Cab Tilting".
