Introduction
This procedure is utilized to adjust the steering axle stop for an axle steering joint assembly. The axle housing contains a projection which includes a contact surface disposed for limiting the rotation of the steering knuckle.Required Tools

1 Caliper Test Preparation
Clear all personnel from the machine and from the area around the machine.
Start the engine.

Engine speed dial
Set the engine speed dial at "10".
Lower the left console.
Position the machine on level ground. Check the visibility and adjust the mirrors for the best vision close to the machine.
Fully depress the service brake pedal until the service brake pedal locks mechanically.
Lower the rail axles in order that all tires are fully off the ground, and shunt the road mode.
Fully extend the bucket cylinder and place the bucket on the ground.
Stop the engine.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system.Note: Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "System Pressure - Release".
Raise the left console.Test Procedure

Steering lock
(T1) Protractor
(T2) FT-2294 Alignment bar
(T3) Square
(1) Hub face
Turn the steering wheel until the steering wheel stops. Turn the steering wheel to the right in order to check the right wheel. Turn the steering wheel to the left in order to check the left wheel.
Place square (T3) on hub face (1). Use protractor (T2) to measure the angle between square (T3) and alignment bar (3). The angle should be 35 degrees.Note: The angle relates to the inside wheel. The outside wheel has an angle of 28 degrees (standard tires).Adjust Procedure

(A) 35 degrees
(B) 28 degrees
(2) Adjustment bolt
Loosen the locknut on adjustment bolt (2). Turn adjustment bolt (2) until the correct angle is achieved.
Tighten the locknut on adjustment bolt (2) to the specified torque.
Remove the tooling.
Repeat this procedure for the opposite wheel.
