Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Hood - Remove and Install".
Remove the right engine enclosure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Engine Enclosure - Remove and Install".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the capacity of the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change" or Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Extended Life Coolant - Change" for the proper draining procedure.

Loosen clamp (1) . Remove nuts (3) . Remove U-bolts (2) .

Loosen clamps (7) . Remove hose (8) . Remove nuts (5) . Remove U-bolts (6) . Remove pipe assembly (4) .

Remove bolts (9) . Remove cover (10) . Loosen clamps (11) . Disconnect hose (12) . Position hose (12) aside.

Remove bolts (13) . Remove clamp assembly (14) . Discard clamp assembly (14) . Loosen nut (17) . Remove clamp (16) . Position pipe assembly (15) aside.

Disconnect tube assembly (19) . Disconnect hose assembly (20) . Position hose assembly (20) aside.
Remove bolts (18a) . Disconnect tube assembly (18) and remove the gasket (not shown).

Disconnect tube assembly (21) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (22) . The weight of turbocharger (22) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb).

Remove nuts (23) and discard the nuts. Remove turbocharger (22) .
Remove bolts (24) . Remove cover (25) and the gasket (not shown). Repeat this Step for all remaining covers.
