Inspect the parts thoroughly for excessive wear.
Check if there is any damage on all the parts, especially sleeve bearings, 327-6903 Spider, and differential pinions.
Check the differential pinion bore surface roughness if possible. If Ra>0.8, it should be replaced.
If parts are showing signs of excessive wear, replace the 327-6903 Spider and sleeve bearings.
Take pictures for the parts accordingly.
Reassemble the differential in the reverse order it came apart, making sure to put all the parts back in the same locations they were removed from. Torque bolts (A) to 240 40 N m (177 30 lb ft)Assembly
Perform the following procedure for assembling 486-8386 Spider:

(4) 8R-1704 Differential Bevel Gear
(5) 162-8772 Thrust Washer
Install the 162-8772 Thrust Washer (5) and 8R-1704 Differential Bevel Gear (4) in case assembly.Note: Make sure that you replace the 8R-1704 Differential Bevel Gear and 8R-1703 Differential Bevel Pinion together, if you replace anyone of the 8R-1704 Differential Bevel Gear and 8R-1703 Differential Bevel Pinion. The 8R-1704 Differential Bevel Gear and 8R-1703 Differential Bevel Pinion should come from same supplier.

(1) 486-8386 Spider
(3) 8R-1703 Differential Bevel Pinion
(6) 5V-1270 Thrust Washer
(7) 8R-2211 Bushing
Install the 8R-2211 Bushing (7), 8R-1703 Differential Bevel Pinion (3), and 5V-1270 Thrust Washer (6) on the new 486-8386 Spider (1).Note: The new 486-8386 Spider (1) should change to full round spider as per Illustration 10.

Spider gear assembly
Install the spider gear assembly.

(4) 8R-1704 Differential Bevel Gear
(5) 162-8772 Thrust Washer
Install the 8R-1704 Differential Bevel Gear (4), and 162-8772 Thrust Washer (5).

Install the top half of the case assembly. Make sure that the slots on the two cases are aligned. Install washer and bolt. Torque bolts (A) to 240 40 N m (177 30 lb ft).The new spider is adaptable to, and is effective in production with the serial numbers that are listed in Table 1.
