Introduction
This Special Instruction explains the installation procedure for the pivot kit on the steering column. Do not begin the rework procedure until you have read the information that is contained in this instruction.Work safely. Most accidents that involve product operation, maintenance, and repair are caused by failure to observe basic safety rules or precautions. An accident can often be avoided by recognizing potentially hazardous situations before an accident occurs. A person must be alert to potential hazards. This person should also have the necessary training, skills, and tools in order to perform these functions properly.Refer to the appropriate Parts Manual, Operation and Maintenance Manual, Disassembly and Assembly Manual, and Service Manual.Safety precautions and warnings are provided in the manuals and on the product. If these hazard warnings are not heeded, bodily injury or death could occur to you or to other persons. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for your machine.
Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. Move away from other operating machines and away from personnel. Lower the bucket to the ground.
Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep other personnel away from the machine or in the sight of the operator.
Engage the parking brake. Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.Required Parts
Refer to Table 1 for the appropriate new pivot kit.

Remove existing pivot bolts and bushings.
Obtain the new pivot bolts and bushings.
Press the new bushing into the column.

Note: Use the old bolt for this step.
Place the old bolt into the bushing on the inside of the column.
Use the old bolt or a different bolt with a washer and a nut to pull the new bushing into position.Note: DO NOT USE THE NEW BOLT TO PRESS THE BUSHING IN PLACE.
Make sure that the bushing is fully seated.
Remove the bolt.
Repeat for the other side.

Install the new bolt from the outside of the column and torque to 28 7 N m (20.65 5.16 lb ft). Ensure that new bolt contains thread lock, if not, add red thread lock to bolt prior to installing. If reusing the old pivot bolt, be sure to add red thread lock to bolt prior to installing.
