Detection Wiring
The fire suppression system is designed with a fire detection circuit that can still provide detection in the event of a single wire break in the fire detection loop. In the event of a break in any single detection wire, the loop will still provide the necessary protection. The break of a wire is detected by the fire suppression control, which signals the operator by FLASHING the amber system FAULT indicator on the fire suppression monitor.Fire Suppression Control And Monitor Indicators
Monitor Indicators
There are two indicators on the fire suppression monitor, one red (18) and one amber (19). The red signals a fire and the amber signals a system fault. In addition, there is a push-button system CHECK switch (20) included in the fire suppression monitor that is used to test the system.Red FIRE warning indicator (18) will flash and a horn will BEEP to indicate when there is a fire on the machine and that the fire suppression system has been activated. It is important to note that the electronic fire suppression monitor panel is wired to the same fuse as the operator monitor (EMS). Thus both panels are controlled by the key switch. The automatic fire suppression control can only be electrically disconnected by turning off the machine disconnect switch. Also, when the fire warning horn is BEEPING, it does so at a rate greater than that of the machine EMS warning horn.

(20) System CHECK switch.Amber system FAULT indicator (19) will flash to indicate that the nitrogen actuator or agent cylinder pressure has dropped below an acceptable level. It will also indicate a problem in the wiring circuit, such as faulty detection circuits or a discharge actuator solenoid. When this light comes on, find the problem and have the problem repaired before operating.With the disconnect and key switches ON and as long as the system CHECK switch (20) is pushed, the fire suppression monitor red FIRE warning indicator (18) will flash and the horn will BEEP. If the parking brakes are applied, the engine shutdown solenoid will be activated. Activation of the system CHECK switch will not result in a system discharge.Control Indicators
Fire Suppression Control IndicatorsThere are eight indicators (LED's) located on the fire suppression control (6) that function as service diagnostics. The first amber indicator closest to the connector labeled "KEY OFF PROGRAM" identifies whether the engine can be shut off by the key switch or not. If the indicator is OFF, the fire suppression control is allowed to activate the engine shutdown solenoid when the key switch is rotated to the OFF position. If the indicator is ON, the engine can only be shut down manually. This feature is controlled in the vehicle wiring harness.
