Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system to a level below the coolant temperature sensor into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Disconnect the harness assembly (1).
Remove the coolant temperature sensor (2) from the cylinder head.
Remove the O-ring seal from the coolant temperature sensor. Installation Procedure

Install a new O-ring seal on the coolant temperature sensor. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
Install the coolant temperature sensor (2) in the cylinder head. Tighten the coolant temperature sensor to a torque of 20 N m (15 lb ft).
Connect the harness assembly (1).
Fill the cooling system to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance, "Refill Capacities" for the cooling system capacity.
