Removal Procedure
The harvester head frame may tip over when it is in the vertical position. Personal injury or death may result if this occurs. Secure the frame to the yoke with a chain or similar restraint prior to working on the harvester head.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.Note: The HH65 Harvester Head is shown in this procedure. Other harvester heads are similar.
Ensure that the harvester head frame is in the VERTICAL position. Secure the frame of the harvester head to the yoke with a suitable chain. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Preparation for Disassembly" for detailed instructions.
Fully open the feed roller arms. Support the feed roller with a sling and a hoist in order to remove tension from the feed roller arm cylinder.

Remove hydraulic hose assemblies (1) and (2) from feed roller arm cylinder (3) .
Remove bolt (5). Remove pivot pin (4) .

Remove bolt (6). Remove cover (7). The bolt that retains the pivot pin is found under the cover.
Remove lower roller (8). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Lower Roller - Remove". Access to the end of the pivot pin is behind the lower roller.

Remove the locknut and bolt (9). The locknut and bolt (9) are accessed under cover (7) .

Support feed roller arm cylinder (3). Remove pivot pin (10) from the harvester head. Access to the pivot pin is from the area behind the lower roller. The pivot pin can be removed by threading a slide hammer into the hole in the end of the pin. The pin can then be pulled out. The pivot pin can also be driven out from the back by using a hammer and a drift.
Lift feed roller arm cylinder (3) from the harvester head. The feed roller arm cylinder weighs 6.8 kg (15 lb) on a HH55 and HH65 Harvester Head.
