When performing any service to the machine that does not require a running engine, shut the engine off.
The hopper safety support must be in place before any service is performed below the hopper bed.
A. Hopper Door Adjustment
1. With the hopper door closed, loosen the jam nut on the upper end of the door cylinder rod. 2. Adjust the cylinder fastening nuts on the cylinder rod so that the hopper door is open approximately 1/8 inch (3 mm) when the cylinder rod is fully extended.3. Retighten the jam nut.B. Wing Extension Adjustment
Have the screed fully lowered or securely blocked while making this adjustment.
1. With the wing retracted, loosen the jam nut on the wing cylinder rod. 2. Adjust the wing fastening nuts so the end plate of the wing clears the edge of the screed by 1/8 inch (3 mm) when the wing is retracted.3. Retighten the jam nut.C. Propulsion Control Levers Adjustment
The following adjustment requires a running engine. Make certain that the area is clear of objects and personnel. Maintain a low engine R.P.M. limiting the amount of machine movement.
1. Finding true stop.
a. Shut off the engine and install the reverse stop. b. Pull propulsion control levers back to T-stop. c. Disconnect the control linkage from the control arms on the propulsion pumps and allow the control arms to center in the neutral position. d. Start the engine and maintain a very low R.P.M. to verify that the propulsion pumps are in neutral.e. Shut off the engine.f. Without moving the control arms, adjust the control linkage and hook it back up to the control arms.g. Start the engine and maintain a very low R.P.M..h. Verify that the propulsion pumps are in neutral by moving the propulsion levers to forward and reverse and back to neutral.2. Tension of propulsion levers.
a. The tension is controlled by adjusting the disc plates. b. Preferably, one lever will be tighter than the other. Use only the looser one for controlling direction while paving.c. Tension settings on the disc plates should be taunt enough so that the control levers will not creep out of position.D. Track Tension Adjustment
1. To check track for proper tension.
a. Back AP-200 for a short distance and park on a flat surface. This is to have bottom of track tight and slack on top where it is easily measured.b. Lay a straight edge on top of the track.c. Midway between the front and rear axles, the top track should droop 3/4 inch (19 mm) below the straight edge.2. To tighten or loosen the track.
a. Loosen the jam nut of the take-up bolt on the rear axle and the two nuts holding the take-up assembly. b. Use the take-up bolt to move the rear axle forward or back as necessary. c. Retighten the jam nut and the take-up assembly nuts. In making the track tension adjustment, see that the rear (adjusted) axle remains parallel to the front and idler axles.
