Position shaft (9) in carrier housing (12) from the rear side, as shown. Use a sleeve that will fit over shaft (9) and press against bushing (10). Use a press and the sleeve to install the shaft in carrier housing (12). Install the shaft until the roller bearing makes contact with the counterbore in the carrier housing.
Heat the remaining roller bearing (11) and the remaining bushing (10) to a temperature of 135 °C (275 °F).Note: Step 5 through Step 7 must be performed before roller bearing (11) or bushing (10) cools.

Invert the carrier housing. Install roller bearing (11) on the shaft.

Install bushing (10) on the shaft.

Use a sleeve that will fit over shaft (9) and press against bushing (10). Make sure that shaft (9) is supported, as shown. Use a press and the sleeve to install roller bearing (11) and bushing (10) in carrier housing (12) and on shaft (9). Install the roller bearing and the bushing until the roller bearing makes contact with the counterbore in the carrier housing.
Allow the roller bearings to cool. Pack the roller bearings with 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease .

Use Tooling (A) to install lip type seal (8) in each flange (7). Install the lip type seal with the sealing lip toward the inside of the flange. Install the lip type seal until the seal makes contact with the counterbore in the flange.

Position flanges (7) on the carrier housing. Install 12 bolts (6) that hold the flanges to the carrier housing.

Install flange (5) on shaft (9) on the rear side of the drive shaft carrier.

Install the original amount of washers (4) on the end of shaft (9) .

Install washer (3), washer (2) and bolt (1). Tighten the bolt.

Measure the distance from the center of the bolt hole on the rear of the drive shaft carrier to the machined surface of flange (5). Record this distance and dimension (X). Dimension (X) must be 78.0 mm (3.07 inch). Add or remove washers (4) in order to obtain the correct dimension.

Install flange (5) on shaft (9) on the front of the drive shaft carrier.
Install the original amount of washers (4) on the end of shaft (9) .

Install washer (3), washer (2) and bolt (1). Tighten bolt (1) .

Measure the distance from the machined surface of the rear flange to the machined surface of the front flange. Record this distance as dimension (Y). Dimension (Y) must be 281.0 mm (11.06 inch). Add or remove washers (4) from the front flange in order to obtain the correct dimension.Note: After the installation of the drive shaft carrier, check the clearance between the front and rear flanges and the drive shafts. There should be no gaps between the drive shafts and the flanges on the drive shaft carrier.
