Use the attached lifting equipment to carefully lower the boom onto the cribbing that was installed in Step 21. Ensure that the boom is not lowered onto the compensating cylinder. Ensure that the boom is not lowered onto harness (22) .
Remove the lifting equipment from the boom.

Remove bolts (24), the nuts and the washers in order to remove cover (23). Make a note of the positions of all the washers for the purpose of installation.

Trace harness (22) from the front of the boom and along the underside of the boom to electrical connector (25) at the rear of the boom. Make a note of the path of the harness for the purpose of installation.
Disconnect harness (22) at electrical connector (25). Cut the cable straps that secure the harness to the surrounding machinery. Make a note of the number and the positions of the cable straps for the purpose of installation.

Gather harness (22) together before stowing the harness in the back of the boom.

Disconnect hoses (26) from the fittings at the rear left hand side of the boom.

Attach suitable double chain lifting slings to the rear lifting brackets on the boom and attach Tooling (C) to the front lifting bracket on the boom. Attach the double chain lifting slings and the Tooling to a suitable hoist. The weight of the boom is approximately 1100 kg (2425 lb).
Use the attached lifting equipment to support the weight of the boom. Do not lift the boom at this step.

Remove bolts (28) and the washers in order to remove plates (27) that secure pins (29) in place on both sides of the boom. Remove adapter (30) from the pin on the right side of the boom. Remove bolt (31) and the washer from the pin on the left side of the boom.

Install Tooling (B) to pins (29) before using the Tooling to remove the pins. After the first pin is removed, check and adjust the lifting equipment.

Use the attached lifting equipment to carefully lift the boom from the machine. Remove shims (32) that are used between the boom and the frame of the machine. Make a note of the size and number of the shims used for the purpose of installation.
Place the boom on suitable cribbing or stands before removing the lifting equipment from the boom.
