Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the unit injector hydraulic pump drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Unit Injector Hydraulic Pump Drive - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove screws (1) and retainer plate (2). Remove bolts (3) from unit injector hydraulic pump drive (4).

Remove atmospheric pressure sensor (6).
Remove fuel temperature sensor (7).
Remove bolts (5).
Separate housing assembly (8) from housing assembly (9) and remove the gasket.

Remove thrust plate (10).

Remove shaft assembly (12) and drive gear (11).

Use a suitable press in order to remove drive gear (11) from shaft assembly (12).

Remove bearings (13).
