Text and Data File Logs
Log files are made up of data that your UPS generates during operation. There are two basic types of log files:
text log
data logText Files
Text log files appear as text displayed in the UPS View text window.
Illustration 1 g01148877
Log Files in Text WindowWhen the system stores log file information, the data is stored as ASCII text. The text color is not stored in an ASCII log file, instead colors are designated as <Gre>,<Red>, and <Yel>.Data Files
Data files contain telemetry channels and sequential time-stamped information. Data log files are in a Microsoft Excel® Comma Separated Values File format. The log information is classified according to the following categories: Date, Time, Serial Number, Node ID, and Data Type.Refer to table 1 for an abbreviated example of log information as listed in the text window.
Table 1
Date     Time     Serial Number     Node ID     Sys. Input Line Volts AB

The DATE is the month, day, and year the file was created. NUM indicates the file number. Each day the file number resets to zero (0). As new files of the same SN and "TYPE" are created each day, the file numbers increment to a maximum of 999.The NUM field should not reach or exceed 999 in any 24 hour period."TYPE" denotes the type of information stored in a given log file. There are 21 possible values this field can have.Note: You may retrieve your log files by accessing the log file directories under the "UPSView\Log ".General Log Files
There are several types of log files generated by your UPS. Typical log files are described in the following paragraphs.UPS View software automatically creates a set of log files once communication is established with the UPS. These files are periodically written at a rate you define. You can change the logging rate under the UPS View "File" menu bar selection. See "Def. Data Log Rate" or "Log All Telemetry Data" under the "File" menu to change the logging rate.General Log File Types are as follows:
text is ASCII text strings as displayed in the UPS View "Text Log" display.
data1 is "MMU Floating Point" tiles telemetry data.
data2 is "MMU Status Tile", "Integer Tile", and "Text Tile" telemetry data.
data3 is "MMU Three Phase" tile telemetry data.
sys1 is "System Floating Point" tiles telemetry data.
sys2 is "System Status Tile", "Integer Tile", and "Text Tile" telemetry data.
sys3 is "System Three Phase Tile" telemetry data.Dump Log Files
The dump log file system allows you to "dump" all text and telemetry data in UPS View to log files. UPS View caches (holds) approximately ten (10) minutes worth of UPS data at any time. All dump
