Position the gasket and aftercooler base (23) on the engine. Install bolts (22). Tighten bolts (22) to a torque of 47 9 N m (35 7 lb ft).

Locate aftercooler housing (17) on the aftercooler base. Install bolts (18) and washers (20) in aftercooler housing (17). Tighten bolts (18) to a torque of 47 9 N m (35 7 lb ft).
Install bolts (19) and the washers in side brackets (21).

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Apply Tooling (B) to the outer diameter of the lip seals prior to installation. Install the lip seals and the washers in aftercooler cover (7). Apply a light coat of glycerin to the sealing lip of the lip seals.
Install the retaining ring, the bushing, spring (16), and shaft assembly (11) in aftercooler cover (7).

Install washer (13) and retaining ring (12) on shaft assembly (11).
Apply pressure to shaft assembly (11) so that the retaining ring and the washers are flush against the lip seal. Install plates (15) and screws (14) on shaft assembly (11).

Position the gasket on aftercooler core (9). Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to aftercooler cover (7). Position aftercooler cover (7) on aftercooler core (9). The weight of aftercooler cover (7) and aftercooler core (9) is approximately 63 kg (139 lb).
Install bolts (10) and the washers in order to attach aftercooler core (9) to aftercooler cover (7).
Apply a light coat of glycerin to the O-ring seals prior to assembly. Install the O-ring seals on adapters (8). Install adapters (8) in aftercooler cover (7).
Position the gasket on the aftercooler housing. Position aftercooler core (9) and aftercooler cover (7) in the aftercooler housing.

Install bolts (5) and washers (6).
Connect hose assembly (4).

Connect temperature sensor (3).

Connect tube assemblies (1) and elbows (2).
Fill the coolant system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
