Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Personal injury can result from driveline torque windup under load.Unequal wheel speed can result in driveline torque windup which can cause driveline components to be under load during disassembly.Relieve the driveline torque windup before disassembly.
Place wheel blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.
Release the parking brake.
Release the driveline torque windup by raising either side of the machine until the wheels are off the ground. Lower the wheels back to the ground.
Engage the parking brake.

Remove bolt (1) and the clamp.
Remove two bolts (2) and guard (3).

Attach a suitable lifting device to center drive shaft (5). The weight of center drive shaft (5) is approximately 55 kg (121 lb).
Remove eight bolts (4).

Remove center drive shaft (5). Installation Procedure

When the center drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the front and rear drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint group, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.

Attach a suitable lifting device to center drive shaft (5). The weight of center drive shaft (5) is approximately 55 kg (121 lb).
Apply Tooling (A) and then apply Tooling (B) to the threads of eight bolts (4).
Install center drive shaft (5).

Install eight bolts (4). Tighten eight bolts (4) to a torque of 300 30 N m (220 22 lb ft).

Install guard (3) and two bolts (2).
Install clamp and bolt (1).
Lubricate center drive shaft (5). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Drive Shaft Universal Joints, Splines, and Bearings - Inspect/Lubricate". End By:
