The FMI 03 diagnostic code indicates that the electronic control module (ECM) has detected the sensor signal voltage as being above normal.The possible causes of the diagnostic code are listed below:
The return circuit wire is open.
The signal circuit wire is open or the sensor is disconnected.
The signal circuit wire is shorted to a + battery source.
The sensor has failed.
The ECM has failed. A failure of the ECM is unlikely.Note: Check to see if an active CID 0041 diagnostic code exists for the 8 VDC sensor power supply before performing this procedure. If an active CID 0041 diagnostic code is present, correct the problem and clear the diagnostic code before performing this procedure.Note: Ensure that the CID 2341 FMI 03 diagnostic code is active. This procedure can cause new diagnostic codes to be recorded. Ignore these created diagnostic codes. When the problem has been corrected, clear the created diagnostic codes.Test Step 1.
