The engine drives the piston pump (1) which then drives the piston motor (5). The hydrostatic system is a closed loop. Oil is continuously pumped between the piston pump (1) and the piston motor (5). The charge pump (2) charges the system at start-up and the charge pump provides makeup oil. Oil is directed by the charge pump (2) through the filter group (11), which filters the oil before entering the drive pump (1) and motor (5). The charge pump (2) also provides the source for signal pressure in order to control the pump (1). The signal pressure is controlled electronically in order to vary proportionally to the engine speed. This relationship is handled electronically. As the engine speed becomes higher, the signal pressure will become higher.An orifice in the signal line allows the pressure override valve to function. Without the orifice, the pressure override valve would not be able to limit the maximum drive loop pressure.The piston motor (5) is mounted to a transfer gear group (8) in order to turn the front wheels and the rear wheels. Power from the transfer gear group (8) is transferred to the front axle (7) through a drive shaft (6). The rear axle (9) receives power directly from the transfer gear group (8). The parking brake caliper and the brake disc are mounted on the input shaft of the front differential. The parking brake and the service brake share the same caliper and brake disc.The direction of the machine is controlled by the direction control switch that is located in the cab on the pilot valve ( joystick). The speed of the machine is controlled by the accelerator pedal and/or the decelerator pedal. If the machine is equipped with a creeper control, the speed of the machine can also be controlled by the creeper control (12) .The machine will shift to NEUTRAL, if the parking brake lever is engaged and the direction control switch is in the FORWARD position or in the REVERSE position. In order to get the machine to move, the direction control switch must be moved to NEUTRAL and the parking brake must be disengaged. Then, the direction control switch must be moved to the desired direction.The speed control switch controls the speed range of the machine. The machine must be stationary in
