This Program can be administered eitherbefore or after failure. In either case the decision whether to apply theProgram is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS40182"as the Part number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered beforefailure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" asthe SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as theWarranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. Although this Program is to be administeredas described above on the Affected Product, parts should be removed fromparts stock as soon as possible. This Revised Service Letter replacesthe July 5, 2000 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the TerminationDate, Problem, Parts Needed and the Rework Procedure. A change was madeto the Mirror As. called out in the Parts Needed section. Tractors previouslyreworked with the former Mirror As. should NOT be further reworked.TERMINATION DATE

Improvements have been made to the cab-mountedoutside rear view mirror assemblies used with the Challenger Row Crop tractors.The new design mounts differently to the support arm, eliminating the adjustmentknob, and provides increased service life. Note that the new design replacementmirror has a slightly increased field of vision. The former design mirrorassemblies should be replaced.It is suggested that the customer be providedthe Parts Needed and Rework Procedure (under terms set forth in the ServiceClaim Allowances) for his installation. The dealer may also choose to makethe installation in conjunction with another service call. In either case,no labor is provided by this Service Letter.AFFECTED PRODUCT

Attach. (1-Rework Procedure)Rework Procedure
1) Remove the existing outside rearview mirror assembly on the right hand side of the cab.2) Remove the nut and washer retainingthe spring clamp to the 2099564 Mirror As. swivel post. Refer to Illustration1.3) Spread the clamp so that it canbe slipped around the existing mirror arm assembly. Carefully squeeze theclamp ends together, being careful not to scar the protective vinyl coating.4) Install the swivel post stud throughthe clamp holes and retain with the removed washer and nut.5) Adjust the Mirror As. to suit theoperator. Tighten the retainer bolt.6) Repeat Steps 1-5 for the left handmirror assembly. Illustration 1: Sketch of front andbottom view of the 2099564 Mirror As.
