General Precautions
1. Disassemble the pump assembly in a clean, dust-free place. Place a rubber sheet or cloth on the workbench to prevent damage to parts.2. Since all the parts are engineered to high precision, handle them carefully. Make sure that parts are not struck against each other and are not allowed to fall. Use special care to prevent damage to the contacting surfaces of O-rings, oil seals and other seals, the contacting surfaces of gears, pins, bearings and the like, and the rolling, sliding and contacting areas of all the rotary parts and valves.3. During a disassembly there may be parts hard to loosen. Do not strike or pry them with undue force. Burrs or damage could result, making it impossible to re-mount the parts securely. Oil leaks or poor performance also could result. Be patient when performing disassembly operations.4. If parts are left disassembled or intermediately disassembled, there is danger of rust formation on the parts due to moisture or dust. When a disassembly has to be interrupted for unavoidable reasons, use care to prevent rust formation and dust build-up. This description of DISASSEMBLY and REASSEMBLY PROCEDURES is for E240. It applies also to EL240, E240B and EL240B since the basic construction is the same.Disassembly Procedure
Preparation for work1. External cleaning Wash sand, oil, dirt, etc. completely off of the outside (wash with kerosene, then dry with compressed air). Also remove mud from the labyrinth section. 2. Remove the 2 plugs (43) from the screw holes in casing cover (26) with a screwdriver, then screw 2 eyebolts in their place.3. Tighten 4 bolts (M20 × 50) to fix motor casing (2) to the workbench (this operation must be done from below).Removal of travel motor (29) 1. Turn over the workbench.2. Remove the 4 bolts (37) holding travel motor (29) in place. 3. Screw eyebolts for motor hoisting into the 2 screw holes in travel motor (29) flange section.4. Raise the crane gradually, and remove travel motor (29).Disassembly of travel drive assembly 1. Remove plug (45) and drain gear oil. Since there are about 6.5 liter (1.7 gal) of gear oil, use a container that will hold about 10 liter (2.6 gal). 2. Remove coupling (46), then turn over the workbench. 3. Remove the 16 bolts (38) (M16 × 2), then remove casing cover (26). If it is hard to remove, screw lifting bolts into the 2 removal bolt holes, then remove while scraping off the layer of liquid packing on the mating surface. 4. Remove sun gear (7).5. Remove carrier (13). Remove by pulling straight up. 6. Remove carrier (14) with a lifting jig.7. Remove thrust collar (25). 8. Screw 2 ring gear eyebolts into the 2 removal bolt holes in ring gear (31) and ring gear (32) in evenly. Make matchmarks on the ring gears and casing (1) with (for example) white paint (marks that are identifiable during reassembly). 9. As soon as ring gear (32) is completely detached from casing (1), and lift ring gears (31)
