Illustration 1. Right side plate.1. Fabricate a left hand plate (1) and a right hand plate (2) from 15.0 mm (.59 in) thick mild steel. (Chamfer (G) will be opposite on Plate 1 to Plate 2.) See Chart A and Illustration 1.

Unequal wheel speed can result in drive line torque windup which can cause driveline components to unload during disassembly. This can result in personal injury. Relieve the drive line torque windup before disassembly.
3. Relieve the drive line torque windup using the method given in "Reference article". 4. Remove the rear drive shaft.

Weld the fabricated Plates 3 and 4 in place using an 8.0 mm (.31 in) fillet weld all around. Weld Plates 3 and 4 together with a convex groove weld. See Illustrations 3 and 4. 6. Weld Plates 1 and 2 in place as shown in Illustrations 3 and 4. Do not weld into the corner radius (Y) of Plates 1 and 2.
