Connect the steering frame lock.
Release the hydraulic system pressure.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hot oil spray.Make sure all attachments have been lowered, oil is cool and the pressure has been released from the hydraulic system before removing any components or lines.Be sure there is no pressure in the tubing before it is disconnected from the fitting.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

Open door assembly (1) and fan guard assembly (2).

Disconnect harness assemblies (3).
Cut cable straps (4).
Remove bolt (6) and the washer in order to disconnect the harness clip.
Pull harness assemblies (3) through grommet (5).
Repeat Steps 2 through 5 for the opposite side of the machine.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to cover assembly (8). The weight of cover assembly (8) is approximately 24 kg (52 lb).
Remove bolts (7) (not shown) and the washers. Use Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device in order to remove cover assembly (8).

Attach a suitable lifting device to upper guard assembly (9). The weight of upper guard assembly (9) is approximately 71 kg (157 lb).
Remove bolts (10) and the washers. Use the suitable lifting device in order to remove upper guard assembly (9).

Remove bolts (12) and the washers. Remove lower guard assembly (11).

Remove bolts (15), the washers, and the nuts in order to disconnect panel assembly (14) from fan assembly (13). Fold panel assembly (14) out of the way.

Disconnect harness assembly (18) from backup alarm (16).
Remove bolts (17) in order to disconnect harness assembly (18) from the fan assembly.
Disconnect hose assemblies (19).

Attach a suitable lifting device to fan assembly (13). The weight of fan assembly (13) is approximately 277 kg (611 lb).
Disconnect rod (22) if necessary.
Remove bolts (20) and the washers. Remove bolts (21) and the washers. Use the suitable lifting device in order to remove fan assembly (13). Installation Procedure
Install fan assembly (13) in the reverse order of removal.
