Inspect the serial number tag located on the D3:C4 Navigator Display. (See note below.)
- If the display serial number DOES have E8, F8, G8, H8, J8, K8, L8, M8, or A9 in the first two character positions, install the protective film according to the attached Rework Procedure.
Example:
Display Serial Number - G80B000123; the first two characters are "G8". This display would need the film added to the glass.
- If the display serial number DOES NOT have E8, F8, G8, H8, J8, K8, L8, M8, or A9 in the first two character positions, no further action is required.
Example:
Display Serial Number - A80B000123; the first two characters are "A8". This display would not need the film added to the glass.
The METSmanager may be used to remotely view the serial numbers of the displays on-site by requesting a CAES Diagnostic file from each of the machines. The "Display S/N:" will be shown near the top of the diagnostic file returned, and can be viewed on the computer monitor.

MODELS INVOLVED - CAES and Aquila D3:CF Navigator II
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The Navigator II display (D3:C4) needs to be inspected and possibly reworked on the products listed below. The existing display may experience a crack in the glass and this may, in conjunction with other factors or circumstances, result in a risk of personal injury or death. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 16Feb2011 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
Navigator Instructions for installing Protective Film to the Glass
Parts Needed:
357-0712 Protective Film
Tools Needed:
Small Squeegee
Clean Water
Optional Wetting Solution (baby shampoo & water)
Glass Cleaner
Paper Towels
Spray Bottle
1. Remove the Navigator from the machine bracket.
2. Find a suitable place to perform this procedure. Choose a place with good illumination for removing the bubbles and low wind to reduce the chance of getting contamination under the film.
3. Thoroughly clean the display glass and surrounding area using glass cleaner and paper towels. After cleaning, check the glass to ensure it does not have any dirt or foreign objects on it.
