Information:

The 6V4040 Nitrogen Tire Inflation Group comes assembled, and is made up of the hose, regulator and two chucks.2P8292 Storage Box and 2P8289 Tool Holder Block can be ordered separately from the Parts Department, for storage of the group. Use normal safety procedures when the nitrogen compressed gas cylinders are used. Be sure the nitrogen cylinder is held firmly in position so it cannot move.
Stand behind the tread of the tire during inflation. Use only the air chucks that are clip-on type with the inflation group.
Cold inflation pressure for use in shipping is in the Lubrication and Maintenance Guide. See your tire dealer for operating pressure recommendations. The Bead Seating Pressure of the tire needs to be known when tires are installed on the rims. The 6V4039 Safety Relief Valve holds the working pressure to a maximum of 1137 kPa (165 psi). Do not inflate any tire beyond its bead seating pressure; see the chart below.(1) Open a small amount, then close valve (1) for a moment to remove any dirt or dust that is in the cylinder valve outlet.(2) Connect 6V4037 Regulator Assembly (2) to valve (1) and connect 1J3914 Hose Assembly (3) to regulator (2).(3) Turn out pressure adjusting screw (4) until it turns freely. Open valve (1) very slowly so the inlet pressure gauge moves slowly to the cylinder pressure. Move to one side as shown and open valve (1) all the way.(4) Connect 6V4038 Standard Chuck or 1P3551 Large Chuck (5) to hose (3).(5) Connect air chuck (5) to the tire valve. Pressure in the tire will show on the low pressure gauge when pressure adjusting screw (4) is in the out position or the cylinder valve is closed. When cylinder pressure is equal to or less than pressure in the tire, a higher pressure cylinder is needed.(6) To inflate the tire, turn pressure adjusting screw (4) clockwise until the desired pressure shows on the low pressure gauge. Tire pressure can be checked as shown in step 5. Never adjust the regulator above 1060 kPa (154 psi); above this pressure nitrogen will be released into the atmosphere.(7) If the tire pressure is too high, push the valve core in the valve stem to remove nitrogen and decrease pressure to the correct amount.(8) Disconnect the hose from the tire valve and install the valve cap. Close the cylinder valve. Remove the regulator and put the protection caps on the cylinders.
