Note: The procedure to remove the right-hand final drive sprocket and the procedure to remove the left-hand sprocket is identical. The procedure that follows is for one of the sprockets.

Release the track tension. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Track Adjustment - Adjust ".
Start the machine. Position roller (1) on Tooling (A). Position pin to separate the track above the final drive.
Separate the track. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Track Adjustment - Separate ".
Personal injury can result from the track coming off of the roller frame.The track can move off the track roller frame very quickly when a separation of the track is made.Keep away from the front of the machine when the track is removed from the track roller frame.
Use Tooling (B) to release the track and prevent injury.

Use Tooling (C) to remove bolts (2) and the washers that fasten the sprocket to the final drive.

Remove cork plugs (3). Use Tooling (D) to separate the sprocket from the final drive.

Attach Tooling (E) and a suitable lifting device to sprocket (4), as shown. Remove sprocket (4). The weight of sprocket (4) is approximately 82 kg (180 lb). Installation Procedure

Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the sprocket and the final drive.

Attach Tooling (E) and a suitable lifting device to sprocket (4). The weight of sprocket (4) is approximately 82 kg (180 lb). Position sprocket (4) on the final drive, as shown.

Install cork plugs (3).

Before assembly, remove compound, oil, and dust from female threads, then apply Tooling (F) to threads of bolts (2).
Use Tooling (C) to tighten bolts (2) in an alternating sequence to a torque of 250 25 N m (184 18 lb ft). Turn an additional angle of 35 5 degrees. Refer to Service Magazine , M0083843 , "An Improved Bolt Tightening Procedure for the Critical Joints Is Now Used on all Excavators" for more detailed information.
Position Tooling (B) to prevent injury during track installation.
Connect the track. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Track - Connect ".

Start the machine. Remove Tooling (A) from the track.
Adjust track tension. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Track Adjustment - Adjust ".
