The machine has oil immersed brakes on the front wheels and on center axle wheels.The service brake control (pedal) (1) is to the left of the accelerator control.Engage - Depress the pedal in order to engage the service brakes. Use the service brakes for reducing ground speed or for stopping the machine.Disengage - Release the pedal in order to disengage the service brakes.Repeated applications of the service brakes on downgrades can cause wear and overheating of the service brakes. Prolonged operation of the service brakes on downgrades can cause wear and overheating of the service brakes. Select the correct gear before starting down a grade and use the engine compression brake in order to slow the machine. Use the engine compression brake in order to prevent engine overspeed when you are going downhill. Supplement the engine compression brake with the service brakes when the grade requires additional retardation.The service brake control must be used in order to fully stop the machine.
