See the replacement article that follows.There have been a number of isolated instances of issues with oil leaks between the turbocharger and the inlet manifold.The oil is most likely to be coming from the turbocharger. Oil leakage alone does not mean that there is an issue with the turbocharger.If the engine is allowed to idle for long periods of time, or the application has only carried out light load duties, then the turbocharger does not create much boost pressure.This boost pressure assists the turbocharger oil seals and helps to keep the oil from entering the inlet side of the turbocharger.

Typical example that shows oil film on inlet side of turbochargerIf there is no boost pressure then oil can sometimes leak past the seals into the inlet side of the turbocharger. Refer to illustration 1.If there is an oil leak from any of the hoses between the turbocharger and inlet manifold, and there are no other problems with the turbocharger, it does not mean that the turbocharger has an issue.The turbocharger should not be replaced if you are only seeing oil leaking at any of the hoses between the turbocharger and the inlet manifold.

See the replacement article that follows.There have been a number of isolated instances of issues with oil leaks between the turbocharger and the inlet manifold.The oil is most likely to be coming from the turbocharger. Oil leakage alone does not mean that there is an issue with the turbocharger.If the engine is allowed to idle for long periods of time, or the application has only carried out light load duties, then the turbocharger does not create much boost pressure.This boost pressure assists the turbocharger oil seals and helps to keep the oil from entering the inlet side of the turbocharger.

Typical example that shows oil film on inlet side of turbochargerIf there is no boost pressure then oil can sometimes leak past the seals into the inlet side of the turbocharger. Refer to illustration 1.If there is an oil leak from any of the hoses between the turbocharger and inlet manifold, and there are no other problems with the turbocharger, it does not mean that the turbocharger has an issue.The turbocharger should not be replaced if you are only seeing oil leaking at any of the hoses between the turbocharger and the inlet manifold.
