The F37 friction material will wear rapidly against a rough plate assembly. Plate assemblies that are made of cast iron may develop pitting when the plate assembly is run against the F37 friction material during high loads. The plate assembly should be closely inspected during the rebuild of the transmission. The plate assembly should be resurfaced if the specifications for the surface finish are not met. The plate assembly should be circumferentially ground.

Pitted area.The new 164-4891 Plate Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 3P-3737 Plate Assembly. The new 164-4891 Plate Assembly is made of steel. The new 164-4891 Plate Assembly resists pitting better than the former 3P-3737 Plate Assembly. The former 3P-3737 Plate Assembly is no longer available. The new 164-4891 Plate Assembly is adaptable to first production of the machines that are listed.
