Switch for the sideshift lock
The side shift slide lock solenoid (4) is mounted to the end cover of the backhoe valve.Solenoid Valve (4) is controlled by the switch for the side shift lock. In order to de-energize the side shift slide lock solenoid, the bottom of the switch for the side shift lock must be pressed. The solenoid is not energized in the locked position.Oil from hydraulic pump passage (9) causes check valve (6) to move to the right. When check valve (6) moves, the oil that is in line (9) flows past the check valve. The oil goes to line (3) and the oil flows into the piston for slide lock (2).Piston (2) moves right against slide rails (5) of the stabilizer frame. When the piston forces the slide rails to contact slide bars (7), this prevents the slide frame from moving during digging operations. The pressure to the piston of the slide lock is charged to the system pressure, whenever an implement or the steering system is used.UNLOCKED Position
Illustration 3 g03170585
The schematic is for the Unlocked position of the sideshift slide lock valve.

(4) Sideshift slide lock solenoid
(5) Slide rail
(6) Check valve
(7) Slide bar
(8) Backhoe valve and cover
(9) Pump passage
(A) Pressure oil
(B) Return oil When the backhoe needs to be repositioned, the pressure on the pistons of slide lock (2) must be Released. When the operator depresses the top of the switch for the side shift lock, side shift slide lock Solenoid (4) is energized. When the solenoid is energized, the solenoid allows the oil in line (3) to drain to hydraulic tank (1). Most of the pressure oil in line (9) is blocked at check valve (6). An orifice in the check valve allows a small amount of oil to flow past the check valve and through solenoid valve (4). The oil then flows back to the hydraulic tank. The oil to the cylinders in the side shift slide lock solenoid is free to return through solenoid valve (4) back to the hydraulic tank.
