Schematic of the circuit for engine overspeed protectionThis diagnostic code is recorded when the implement ECM determines that the voltage is below normal. The circuit for engine overspeed protection connects to contacts J1-28 and J1-29 of the implement ECM.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:
The circuit is shorted to ground.Note: Ensure that the CID 1395 FMI 04 is present and active.Test Step 1. CHECK THE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND.
Use the following table to aid in troubleshooting the circuit.
Table 1
STATUS OF THE CIRCUITS FOR THE IMPLEMENT ECM
OVERSPEED SIGNAL
(918-OR)     OVERSPEED PARITY SIGNAL
(919-GN)     CONDITION
Open/Shorted High     Ground     Normal
Ground     Open/Shorted High     Overspeed
Ground     Ground     CID 1395 FMI 04
Open/Shorted High     Open/Shorted High     CID 1395 FMI 03
Ensure that the diagnostic code is active.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
Engine ECM: Disconnect the engine ECM from the machine harness.
Disconnect the implement ECM from the machine harness.
At the J1 machine harness connector for the implement ECM, measure the resistance from contact J1-28 (wire 918-OR) and contact J1-29 (wire 919-GN) to all other J1 and J2 contacts and chassis ground.Expected Result:Each resistance measurement should be greater than 5000 ohms. Results:
YES - Each resistance measurement is greater than 5000 ohms. The harness is correct. Proceed to test step 2.
NO - One or more resistance measurements is less than 5000 ohms.Repair: There is a short in the machine harness. The short is in the circuit with the low resistance measurement. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS.
Inspect the contacts and clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Clear all inactive diagnostic codes.
Operate the machine.
Stop the machine and place the parking brake switch in the ON position.
Check if the diagnostic code is present.Expected Result:The diagnostic code for the solenoid is no longer present. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code is not present. The diagnostic code does not exist at this time. The initial diagnostic code was probably caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connectors that was disconnected and reconnected. Resume normal machine operation.STOP
NO - The diagnostic code has not been corrected.Repair: It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. Also, recheck if the diagnostic code is active. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the implement ECM. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace".STOP
