Remove the hoods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hoods - Remove".
Remove the valve mechanism cover base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover Base - Remove".
Remove the rocker shafts and pushrods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rocker Shafts and Pushrods - Remove".
Remove the injectors. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Injectors - Remove".
Drain the coolant into a suitable container. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
Move the fuel shutoff valve to the OFF position. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Shutoff and Drain Control".
Move the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Remove support (2). Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to support (1). The weight of support (1) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb). Remove support (1) .

Disconnect hose (3) and (4). Remove elbow (9) and clamp (8). Loosen clamp (6) and position tube (7) into muffler (5) .

Disconnect harness assembly (11). Disconnect hose assemblies (13) and (18). Remove bracket (14). Disconnect ether tube (16) from elbow (15) and cylinder head assembly (10). Remove elbow (15). Disconnect clips (17). Disconnect the fuel filter and support (12) as a unit from cylinder head assembly (10). Secure the fuel filter and support unit (12) .

Remove bracket (19). Disconnect tube (21). Disconnect hose assemblies (22) and (23). Disconnect hose (20) .

Remove bolts (24) and (25). Disconnect harness assembly (26) from cylinder head assembly (10) .

Remove bolts (27). Attach a suitable lifting device to cylinder head assembly (10). The weight of cylinder head assembly (10) is approximately 234 kg (515 lb). Remove all bolts (28) from cylinder head assembly (10). Remove cylinder head assembly (10) .
Remove the cylinder head gasket.
