Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".
Stop the oil flow to the centrifuge by stopping the engine. Ensure that the centrifuge has come to a complete stop and allowed to cool before proceeding.

Do not use power tools.
To remove the cover assembly (1), first remove the band clamp (2) and then loosen the filter cover nut (3).
When loosening the band clamp (2), do not remove the nut from the bolt on the band clamp. The clamp can be fully opened by moving the T-bolt through the slot.

Once the band clamp is removed, loosen the filter cover nut (3) and remove the cover assembly (1).

Allow oil to drain out of the rotor assembly (4). Carefully lift rotor approx. 25 mm (1 inch) to assist the rotor in draining. Once drained, withdraw the rotor assembly (4) vertically upwards from the spindle. The rotor assembly should be removed and replaced on the spindle with care to ensure that the rotor bearings are not damaged.
With the rotor assembly securely held, unscrew the rotor cover nut on the rotor assembly. This procedure requires one 60 mm and one 50 mm socket and a (0.75 inch) drive wrench. This procedure can be aided with the use of the rotor disassembly tool (AA). Consult your Cat dealer for information on the rotor disassembly tool.

The rotor disassembly tool (AA) is used to disassemble the rotor assembly (4).
Install rotor disassembly tool (AA) into bench vise.
Slide a (0.75 inch) drive 60 mm socket onto the tool.
Lower the rotor assembly (4) down to engage the rotor base nut onto the socket.
Use a (0.75 inch) drive 50 mm socket to loosen the upper rotor cover nut (5).
