When the monitor provides a warning, immediately check the monitor and perform the required action or maintenance as indicated by the monitor.The monitor indicator does not guarantee that the machine is in a good condition. Do not use the monitor panel as the only method of inspection. Maintenance and inspection of the machine must be performed on a regular basis. See the Maintenance Section of this Operation and Maintenance Manual.
General Information
This pump may be equipped with a Pump Electronic Monitoring System (PEMS).This system is designed to monitor the operating conditions of the pump. and provide the operator with warnings to extend the service life of both the power end and the fluid end.The basic PEMS includes the following:
Pump speed sensing
Oil pressure monitoring
Oil temperature monitoring
Suction pressure monitoring
Discharge pressure monitoring
Vibration monitoringMonitoring the aforementioned inputs, allows the system to determine when the service life of the components is being reduced. Wear of components can be based on the operation of the pump. The system can also aid in determining when maintenance is required for the internal components of the pump.The following illustrations depict a Cat well stimulation pump. The illustrations depict the location of the systems that are used to monitor the pump.

(1) Oil filterCaterpillar includes a premium power end filtration system as a factory installed standard feature on every new power end. When coupled with a Scheduled Oil Sampling (SOS) program, this feature allows for the following:
Extended oil change intervals.
Less time with oil bypassing the filters.
Reduced pressure drop across the system.
Less down time.The features of the filtration system include the following:
Electronic bypass indicator integrated with the Pump Electronic Monitoring System (PEMS).
Oil sampling ports upstream and downstream of the filter.
Easily accessible filter elements with optimal location to prevent contamination downstream of filters before the pump.

(2) Lube oil outletThe hose connections are -25 Code 61 flange ports (SAE J518). The flange ports are compatible with either the 38.1 mm (1.5 inch) (recommended) or 31.75 mm (1.25 inch) ID hose.
