Escaping fluid under pressure, even a pinhole size leak, can penetrate body tissue, causing serious injury, and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Note: Operate the machine in each direction and in all speeds. Note the noises that are not normal and find the sources of the noises. If the machine is not operating correctly, refer to the troubleshooting list below.Troubleshooting Problem List
The transmission does not operate in any speed or the transmission slips in all speeds.
The transmission overheats.
The transmission does not shift.
Noise in the transmission that is not normal.
Pump noise that is not normal.
The transmission operates in FORWARD only.
The transmission operates in REVERSE only.
The clutch engagement is slow and the transmission makes rough shifts.
The oil pressure for the transmission is low.
The transmission shifting is harsh.

Check for any service codes that may have been generated before troubleshooting a problem. Use the built-in electrical diagnostics that are performed with the electronic control module to determine the service codes for the electronic control module.Note: This machine is equipped with an electronic control module (Machine ECM or Engine ECM). The electronic control is loaded with system diagnostics software used to detect faults in the electronic system.The Transmission Does Not Operate In Any Speed Or The Transmission Slips In All Speeds
Probable causes include:
The Transmission Lockout Switch is engaged.
The parking brake is set or the parking brake switch has failed.
An electrical failure in the shift control or no output at the ECM.
Low oil pressure that is a result of the following causes:
The oil level is low.
Oil pump failure.
Air leaks on inlet side of the pump.
The transmission leaks.
The transmission has a mechanical failure.
Clutch discs and plates have too much wear.
The seals leak.
The shift lever has failed.The Transmission Does Not Shift
Probable causes include:
Air leaks on inlet side of pump.
The wiring to the solenoid control valve is broken or the wiring is not connected.
An electrical failure in shift control or no output at the ECM.
Low oil pressure.The Transmission Gets Hot
A temperature gauge is damaged.
The oil level is high.
