Information:

Be sure no one is working on or near the machine to prevent injury. Keep the machine under control at all times to prevent injury.Reduce governor speed when maneuvering in tight quarters or when breaking over a rise. When traveling any distance, engage the swing lock pin while the upper structure is in line with the tracks. Retract the stick and carry the boom in a low position.
When starting up a steep grade or breaking over a rise, keep the boom lowered as close to the ground as possible. When traveling uphill, or on a slope, keep the boom on the uphill side of the machine.Keep the stick out on a clamshell machine to prevent the bucket from swinging into the cab. 1. Adjust the operator's seat.2. Fasten and adjust the seat belt. 3. Move the governor control lever to the operating range.4. Move the hydraulic and travel activation lever forward to the unlock position. 5. Fully extend the stick and bucket cylinders and hold the front end approximately 40 cm (16") above the ground, thus placing the implements in the travel position. 6. Make sure the position of the upper structure in relation to the undercarriage is known before moving the machine forward or rearward. Drive sprockets should be to the rear of the machine.7. The directional and steering controls will operate normally if the drive sprockets are to the rear and the idlers are to the front, under the cab. When the cab is over the sprockets, the travel controls will operate backwards.8. Pull rearward on the governor control lever to increase the engine speed (rpm) to the desired speed.9. Push both control levers forward at the same time to travel forward. The farther both levers are pushed forward, the faster the travel speed at the set engine speed (rpm).10. To make spot and pivot turns, see "Machine Controls."11. When making turns in soft material, travel in a forward direction occasionally to clear the tracks.12. Slowly move both levers to HOLD (center) position to stop the machine.Changing Direction
Directional changes at full engine speed are possible. However, for operator comfort and maximum service life of power train components, decelerating and/or braking is recommended. If the travel alarm does not sound when traveling, consult or contact your Caterpillar dealer. 1. Slowly pull rearward on both control levers until the HOLD position is reached and the machine stops.2. Then pull both levers rearward from the HOLD position. The farther rearward the levers are pulled the faster the travel speed at the set engine speed (rpm).3. Slowly move both levers to the HOLD position to stop the machine.Frozen Ground Conditions
To free the tracks from frozen ground, use boom down pressure to free the idler end of the machine.Swing the boom to the rear of the machine. Use boom down pressure to free the sprocket end of the machine.
