Information:
In the event of the machine having to remain immobilized for a fairly long period, special measures should be taken to prevent deterioration. Also, before putting it back into service certain precautions will be necessary.Short Term Storage (1 to 6 months)
When the machine has been thoroughly cleaned, proceed with complete maintenance operations corresponding to the 250 service hour interval. All the unpainted metal parts, control cables etc..., should be coated with grease using a brush. The fuel tank should be completely filled. The water reservoir and the spraying device must be emptied. The cooling system (engine) should be filled with liquid containing anti-freeze or completely emptied. In the latter event notices should be attached to the filling point and on the dashboard stating "Without waters".The batteries must be removed and stored in a frost-free place, and they should be charged periodically. The cabin should be closed. If the compactor has no cabin or just an overhead protective roof, the dashboard and controls must be protected with an anti-vandalism cover a waterproof covering and the seat placed in storage of wind and weather.Long Term Storage (6 to 12 months or more).
All the above measures apply, but in such a case the compactor should be stored in a barn or shed. All compartments containing oil should be drained and refilled with new oil.The injectors should be disconnected, engine oil injected into each cylinder by means of a syringe (10 to 15 cm3) (1/3 to 1/2 oz liquid) and the engine cranked on the starter for about 20 seconds. Then the injectors should be reconnected and the engine not started again.Taking Out Of Storage - Putting Back Into Service.
The machine should be cleaned and the protective grease removed. All accessories which had been removed should be reinstalled and batteries charged.Compartments containing oil should be drained and refilled with new oil.Remove the injectors and crank the engine with the starter to remove oil placed in the cylinders prior to storage. Install the injectors. The fuel tank should be filled and the engine started. All the functions of the compactor should be tested.New filters for the engine oil, transmission and fuel should be installed. The drum watering device should be filled and the system tested.
