Rear Bearing Cup Installation
(14) Valve block. (15) Rear bearing cup. (F) Special tool.1. If rear bearing cup (15) was removed during disassembly, a new bearing cup must be installed as follows: a. Orient the bearing cup on valve block (14) as shown.b. Use special tool (F) to press the bearing cup into place. See Special Tools Section of this module for specifications on tool (F).c. Make sure the bearing cup is installed squarely into the bore of the valve block.2. If front bearing cup (8) was removed during disassembly, a new bearing cup must be installed as follows: a. Set the bearing cup in place inside housing (10).b. Use special tool (F) to press the bearing cup into place. See Special Tools section of this module for specifications on tool (F).c. Make sure the bearing cup is installed squarely into the bore of the housing.
Front Bearing Cone Installation
(6) Shaft. (7) Front bearing cone. (C) Special tool.3. Install front bearing cone (7) on shaft (6), if removed during disassembly, as follows: a. Set bearing cone (7) and shaft (6) on special tool (C) as shown. See Special Tools section of this module for specifications on tool (C).b. Use an arbor press to press the shaft into the bearing cone. Press until the bearing cone is square against the shoulder of the shaft.c. Rotate bearing cone (7) by hand a few times. The rollers must move smoothly.4. Install shaft (6) into housing (10). Make sure bearing cone (7) fits into cup (8) correctly. If shaft (6), front bearing parts (7) and (8), rear bearing parts (15) and (16), housing (10), or valve block (14) are being replaced with new parts, the bearing preload must be adjusted. Perform step 5 to set the bearing preload. If the same shaft, bearing parts, housing, and valve block are being returned to service, skip the preload adjustment and go to step 6.5. Adjust the bearing preload of the motor as follows: a. Obtain a bearing spacer kit. Install the thickest bearing spacer (20) over shaft (6) with the chamfer facing into the housing (toward the shoulder on the shaft).b. Slide rear bearing cone (16) onto shaft (6), against spacer (20). Make sure the small diameter end of the bearing cone faces out of housing (10).c. Install valve block (14) to housing (10) without gasket (17) or rotating group. Install bolts (13) and tighten to .11 N m (5 lb. in.).d. Retighten bolts (13) while turning shaft (6). The bearings are seated when the shaft does not free up while turning. Make sure the gap between housing (10) and valve block (14) is as even as possible.e. Use a feeler gauge to measure the gap between housing (10) and valve block (14). Measure at four equidistant points around the motor. Average the four readings by adding them together and dividing by four.f. Fill in the average gap measured above, in the following table.
