Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the fuel injection lines. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct procedure.
Drain the engine lubricating oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for the procedure.

For turbocharged engines, remove crankcase breather (2). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Breather - Remove and Install".
Remove dipstick tube (1) .

Gradually loosen bolts (11). Note the position of any brackets that are secured by the bolts.
Support the assembly of engine oil cooler (3). Remove bolts (11) and remove the assembly of engine oil cooler (3) from the cylinder block.
Remove joint (5) .
Remove O-ring seals (4) from the recesses in the cylinder block.
If necessary, follow Steps 9.a through 9.d in order to disassemble the engine oil cooler.
Remove nuts (8) .
Remove cooler matrix (6) from cover (7) .
Remove O-ring seals (12) and (13) .
Remove plate (10) and joint (9) from cover (7) .
