When reporting the repair, use "PS6041" as Part Number, "7755" as Group Number, and "96" as Description Code. Termination Date

Problem
A single connecting rod bearing may fail on certain 3406B Truck Engines. When this bearing fails, no smearing or scratching of adjacent bearings will be detectable.

Action Required
After a rod bearing fails, check the fuel settings and timing advance adjustment to determine if these conditions contributed to the bearing failure. If the engine is found to have been adjusted in excess of specification, this Program cannot be applied. Follow the procedures in the Service Manual and repair the engine. Caterpillar Remanufactured Crankshafts are to be used. Locally reground crankshafts are not authorized in these repairs.
