Event Warning Levels
The Transmission Electronic Control Module (ECM) assigns one of three warning levels to an active event code. These warning levels are assigned according to the severity of the abnormal system condition. Each of the following warning levels requires a specific response from the operator.Level 1
Warning Level (1) alerts the operator that the transmission requires attention. The operator should check the involved system condition. The operator should perform maintenance on the transmission at the earliest possible time.Level 2
Warning Level (2) requires changing the operation of the tractor or performing a transmission maintenance procedure. Failure to correct the problem that caused this warning may damage the involved components of the transmission .Level 3
Warning Level (3) requires an immediate safe shutdown of the tractor to avoid damage to the transmission or injury to personnel around the machine. The problem that caused the event must be corrected before operation can resume.Transmission Event Codes
Transmission event codes can be reviewed by using the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat® ET) service tool. Events in Cat® ET are displayed in the following format:EXXXX (X) Description of the codeThe "E" indicates that the code is an event code. The "XXXX" is a numeric identifier. The numeric identifier is followed by the warning level and a description of the code. Active event codes are listed in ascending numerical order. The code with the lowest number is listed first. The active event code is removed from the list when the condition is no longer present. Some event codes are logged in the ECM memory. Some event codes are active only. The logged event codes are listed in chronological order. The most recent code is listed first.A logged code is cleared from memory when one of the following conditions occur:
The service technician manually clears the code.
The code does not reoccur for 1000 hours.
A new code is logged and there are already ten logged codes in memory. In this case, the oldest logged code is cleared.Note: Always clear logged event codes after investigating and correcting the problem which generated the code. The following table lists the event codes that apply to the Transmission Electronic Control Module (ECM). The recommended response is listed. Use Cat® ET to determine the event codes that are active or logged.

E083 (2) Transmission Overspeed The transmission input speed has exceeded speeds that are acceptable for internal transmission components.
Ensure that shifting is correct. Reduce engine speed or shift into higher gear.
E283 (3) Low Hydraulic Charge Pressure Engine has run ≥ 30 seconds AND charge pressure sensor detects ≤ 1655 kPa (240 psi) for 5 seconds or more. Event will not activate if there is an active diagnostic code on the 5V power supply.
Deactivates when engine is no longer running OR charge pressure sensor detects ≥ 1724 kPa (250 psi) for ≥ 5 seconds.
Immediate Safe Shutdown of Tractor is Required
Manually check the charge pressure. Compare the gauge charge pressure with the sensor reading. If values are
